PS Sim Summits K2

Summit of K2
Yes, it was last month that many of you would have read about PS Sim reaching the top of K2 - the second highest mountain in the world after Everest.

Straits Times article on 240823
Well, she came by our clinic today and both MJ and Kaylee were both ecstatic to meet her. In fact, they have been asking about her ever since they have seen her pictures in our clinic. The 2 fan girls got to ask her whatever questions they wanted. And of course they wanted pictures with her (below).

Kaylee asked her to compare Everest to K2. In her words, "Everest is a walk in the park compared to K2". To which I replied that it's not a walk in the park definitely.

We are all inspired by you PS!! Please put up an exihibition/ show and tell of all your pictures/ videos from Everest, K2 and the rest of 7 summits, we will definitely come.

Back From Mount Everest To Sports Solutions

Fresh from returning from her climb, PS came to our clinic today and presented me with an autographed picture of her on Mount Everest. Very kind of you PS, thank you very much indeed!

Here's a close up
Whilst treating her, she shared her stories from the climb, leaving me spellbound for more. It was really nice listening to her experience. Glad our clinic can be of help.

She also shared that she brought her Strassburg sock with her to Everest. So we decided that we will hold a raffle in her honor. The person who gives the best reason as to why they need a Strassburg sock will win one.

I'll let PS decide who gives the best answer on our Facebook page.

Here's the Strassburg sock you readers stand to win. Please go to our clinic's Facebook page and leave your comments. The winner will be announced end of this week on 160619. All the best!

PS Sim Makes It To The Top Of Mount Everest

Yes, you read correctly, PS Sim has scaled the world's tallest mountain, Mount Everest! She reached the top of the 8,848m peak at 3 am on 22/5/19 (Nepali time).

As I hardly check Facebook, I only heard the news today as another of my patient who climbs told me when he came to the clinic this afternoon.

Thankfully she started early and avoided the crowd as you can see in the now infamous photo (below) that was posted by climber Nirmal Purja last Wednesday.

Since it was 3 am when she submitted, it was pitch black at that time, she traded off a good photo for not getting stuck in line. Better that than having to wait in line for hours.

Congratulations on a job well done PS! Come home soon.

Hillary step picture by Garret  Madison
The traffic jam is probably due to the few optimal weather windows open to the climbers trying to summit. From the picture above you can see the change in structure of the Hillary step after a massive earthquake hit the region in 2015. A big chunk of rock fell off and it is not as steep as before. The picture on the left was taken in 2017 while the one on the right in 2011.

Other than PS Sim, I had treated Edwin Siew and Khoo Swee Chow, members of the 1st Singapore Mt. Everest expedition in 1998 who also reached the top while I had another patient Rob who reached the peak in 2011.

My Patient Made It To The Top Of Mount Everest

My patient Rob first came to see in to see me January this year needing help with his neck and knee pain as he was preparing to summit Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world after missing the summit in his first attempt last year.

Rob has reached the top of each of the highest mountains in six other continents and just "needed" Everest to complete his 7 summits collection. He made it on May 13 this year. He came to see me today and shared his photos.

You da man, Rob.
